The Format

The main dea behind the Nordic Kite Challenge is to give the Nordic sportkite flyers a chance to meet, compete and develop their flying skills.

The Nordic Kite Challenge competition format is aimed for the kite fliers with an intermediate + skill level, combining precision-, freestyle- and trick elements. By combining these elements, this format enables the pilots to develop a broad range of (basic) flying skills.

Simplicity
Another aspect of the Nordic Kite Challenge concept is that it should be easy to arrange and little preparations are required to throw it all off. You don't need a lot of equipment or people to get it all going. This simplicity also means that you don't need to have a large budget to accomplish it.

The Format
The current competition format has yet again been revised based on our own experience and valuable input from other fliers and judges.

Nordic Kite Challenge format is:
* Fun to fly!
* Cool to watch!
* Quick to judge!
* and Easy to understand!

The format is made up by two parts; the MiniRoutine and the TrickSection.

The MiniRoutine is a short, predefined routine (pattern of flight) that enables the pilot to show his/her control of the kite combining various geometric figures and basic tricks.

The TrickSection is the pilots chance to show off his/her trickflying skills by doing four different tricks. Three of the tricks are selected by the pilot him-/herself and the fourth will be selected by the organizing committee for each competition. All tricks are selected from our vast Trick Pool!
